This beautiful lioness was photographed by Isak in South Luangwa National Park, Zambia. He was photographing a pride of lions when this lioness wandered off. Anticipating it was going for a drink, he positioned himself by the nearest waterhole. It then appeared through the long grass, framed by a wall of lush green.
Isak Pretorius is a South African wildlife guide and photographer. He has won the most prestigious wildlife photography award, the BBC Wildlife Photographer Of The Year.

This one I found a challenge as it’s a very detailed painting. Unfortunately I also ran out of three of the greens so had to improvise. Overall pleased with the result. 4 out of 6 of the big cats completed!
Green, green and more green but so worth it. I am absolutely amazed as to how life like this painting looks and it definitely deserves a good quality frame.
I’ve deducted 1 star in my rating because most of the paints were incredibly thick and had to have quite a few drops of flow aid to make them manageable.
You gotta love green for starters. Seemed like the first several days were just looking at different shades of green but then....the lioness appeared. How fun to see her emerge from the foliage and get her well-deserved drink. Loved painting her and felt like I was watching her from the other side of the river. Wonderful quality paint selection that contrasted the lion with the grass. Another great job creating this for us, Masterpiece!
I love cats - I completed three specific kits to hang together in our stairway. They are so much fun to do and the results are stunning!
