Oak King
Oak King
Oak King by Anne Stokes - The Oak King is the personifications of summer in various folklore and mythological traditions. He engages with the Holly King in an endless "battle" reflecting the seasonal cycles of the year: not only solar light and dark, but also crop renewal and growth.

I absolutely loved painting The Oak King. It was such an enjoyment.
Now ordered the Yule King.
Canvas was perfect to work with.
I did order an extra set of paints and did use them.
Had to wait a bit for delivery as I am in UK.
But well worth the wait.
He's now on my lounge wall.
Everyone loves him.
Almost finished with my first PBN since I was little. I'm now 71. It's coming along. The paints are great. Purchased 2 sets of paint but haven't needed the second set yet. I'm hoping to gift this at Christmas!
Arrived well packaged. Enjoying this one but as usual it takes me weeks. Doing a few hours daily. The paint is good when I first open them but find I need to keep adding water to the pots. They go a bit gloopy quickly. I need to keep my painting covered as the numbers fade over time however, I love completing these paintings.
I really enjoyed this painting. You could see it coming to life with each new color. I am going to give it as a Christmas gift so I really wanted it to turn out good. My only complaint is that I felt the Kelly Green color (#12) was too bright for the rest of the greens. I opted to calm it down when I was done and could evaluate it better. I simply took some of the Kelly green color and mixed it with one of the sages and dabbed it over the areas that looked too bright. that was simply a matter of preference some may love the brightness. 3rd painting and I am hooked!
