Oak King by Anne Stokes - The Oak King is the personifications of summer in various folklore and mythological traditions. He engages with the Holly King in an endless "battle" reflecting the seasonal cycles of the year: not only solar light and dark, but also crop renewal and growth.

Arrived well packaged. Enjoying this one but as usual it takes me weeks. Doing a few hours daily. The paint is good when I first open them but find I need to keep adding water to the pots. They go a bit gloopy quickly. I need to keep my painting covered as the numbers fade over time however, I love completing these paintings.
I really enjoyed this painting. You could see it coming to life with each new color. I am going to give it as a Christmas gift so I really wanted it to turn out good. My only complaint is that I felt the Kelly Green color (#12) was too bright for the rest of the greens. I opted to calm it down when I was done and could evaluate it better. I simply took some of the Kelly green color and mixed it with one of the sages and dabbed it over the areas that looked too bright. that was simply a matter of preference some may love the brightness. 3rd painting and I am hooked!
I've long wanted something like the "Green Man" of folklore and was delighted to see this kit. Really enjoyed painting it though was a bit wories with all the green shading as I am colourblind.
I use the kits to distract me from lifelong chronic pain symptoms completing one about every month. This one will go in our summerhouse in the garden.
