This is one of the easier paintings, which makes it enjoyable and you can take your time. I love how the dark and light come together.
Not really certain if I'll frame this one, but it is kind of cool the way the paints make it look really lit up. Very nice depth perception or 3D effect. #11 & #14 were both very transparent, and a pain to paint and get the results I'm happy with. All the others covered well requiring less touch up than some paintings I've done previously. It was very enjoyable to work on this piece.
I purchased the 2 Venice paintings available at MBN because of going there for an anniversary so wanted to do these paintings. It was relatively easy to do, the most difficult part was the metal fence, you will need a fine brush for that part. I’ve done quite a few of MBN now and never been disappointed so far.
I thought this would turn out too dark, especially when compared with the artist’s original painting, but I was pleasantly surprised. The colours are darker but it still makes a pleasing picture. I think that with it being a night scene it was difficult to get some of the detail of the original. However with a bit of tweaking I think that it has turned out quite nice. This one will go to my Grand Daughter who can’t wait.
