I have been working on Visions of Paradise for a about 6 weeks, and this is my progress so far.
While not a particularly difficult painting, I have made slower progress than usual. Several of the colors needed 2 or 3 applications to completely cover the lines and numbers, and to make sure that white dots of canvas did not shine through. From a distance I suppose it doesn't matter, but I like to be meticulous.
I am also a little disappointed that some the paints provided dry a lot darker than how they look on the website.For example, on the website, some of the waves in the picture look to be white or a very pale, pale beige. But the color I received dried to a definite brown beige that I will have to tinker with, as I don't like it.
Overall, this is a relaxing painting to do, and it reminds me of sunsets I have seen in Hawaii.
I absolutely love this painting. I plan on gifting it to my daughter. I enjoy paintings that are a bit more challenging and this one didn't disappoint. The various shades of similar color helped to create a dimension to the piece that you can only see in person. This is my 6th painting by Masterpiece so I feel as I have come to expect a certain quality from them. The shipping was timely and the canvas did not disappoint; however the paints were another matter. I had read other reviews and seen it mentioned prior to receiving the kit but was unprepared for the condition all the same. I actually had tubs that when opened had the entire contents of the base affixed to the lid of the base; congealed to the shape of the base. I went to call for a replacement set and saw the painting was sold out so knew not to bother trying. I was able to salvage the paint, having years of experience with other types of paint in house flipping and furniture restoration. Even with that there was a constant need of messing with them to make it work. So it's a 4 instead of 5 star, based on quality control. It appears a bad batch slipped through.
I loved painting this picture, reminds me of Bali.
I enjoyed this picture and being able to do it just for one of my granddaughter's. I am doing each one of the children a picture so they have something that was done just for them by me.
