Just completed this painting today. It turned out very well. I especially liked it because it has my four favorite butterflies. The monarch, the red admiral, the black swallowtail, and the tiger swallowtail. Even has my favorite flower the coneflower. Took me 47 hours but those Fancy brushes you set an a long work very well. I enjoy using your kits. You are a great company to work with. Frank Tuma.
I was asked to review it and had yet to finish it; so I reviewed it and stated my reasons for the 4 star rating. It's a bright and pretty picture, if it wasn't for the translucency of so many colors it would have received 5 stars. The Picture is now finished and displayed over my garden tub.
I ordered a set of 3 pictures and this is the last of them. I took a break due to surgery and the bothersome chore of healing. Am now back at it in small doses. I really love the portrait, that being said this is the first time I have had issues with translucencies of the paint. I have noted previously others complaining about having to apply a second coat on some colors; that has never bothered me. Yes all of the paintings have some colors that take a couple of coats; that's Ok with me. There are some colors on this painting that have upward of 10 coats and I am still seeing lines and parts of the numbers coming through. The pale blues are OK, it's the yellows and oranges that are the toughies. The whites and pinks need 2 or 3 coats but these other colors do not want to cover. It is my fist real issue and this is my 4th painting, I have 3 more awaiting me. I ordered the later after discovering the paint issue. It's not enough to lower my expectations on others to come; but it was enough for a 4 star review. I should finish up this week sometime but will post what I have done so far.
