Loved the Challenge! 😉

During the pandemic, I got hooked on PBN paintings. I have completed over 25 of them with numerous companies.

This was my third painting with Masterpiece By Numbers. The other two I have completed were Ken Zylla's. I really liked those two because they were more detailed. But, like all kits, I find the details and colours are off/lacking from the original artist's painting.

When I started this one, I was really disappointed because, for me, it was too simple and the paint cells were too large. (I suggest that Masterpiece By Numbers rate their paintings by their level of difficulties.) This painting is fine for beginners and they would enjoy it. It is easy and the colours are fine. It is a cute pic from what I see from other reviewers. But, for me, it was a too simplified and too cartoonie depiction of the original beautiful painting.

I made it a challenge to make this PBN, "better," because I really liked the "Antique Shop" picture and I like the artist, Sung Kim.

Because of my PBN addiction, I have already invested in better paints and paint brushes. I never use the cheap paintbrushes supplied by the kits. The paints with this kit were okay but some of the paint pots were too thick and chunky to use. I ended up using some of my better paints as well.

When I was painting "Antique Shop", I looked at Sung Kim's original painting and I try to "copy" it. I also added some of my own details and changed some of the colours. I am so pleased with my finished painting!!!

This simple, beginner, PBN pushed me to challenge myself to do better! As a result, I absolutely LOVE it and it is my favourite painting so far! The 3 stars is for the kit, as is, without my changes. With my changes, I give it 6 stars!

I encourage my fellow PBN painters to not be afraid to make changes and colours if you are not satisfied with the finished painting. We all have creativity inside us! 😊

An Absolute Joy

This was my first paint by number, well if if you don't count the ones I did as a child 55 years ago. Painting this was an absolute joy, and I'm hooked. I can hardly wait to jump into the next project. Thank you for these wonderful products.

One of the Best

I love paint by numbers and have been doing them all my life. I am now a retired teacher and some of the numbers on some paint by number kits are hard to read but not yours. I am not the best painter but this one is the best. Thank you!

ANSWERED!

Your Questions

I have never painted before, can I do it?

Yes, of course, you can! Paint-by-numbers kits are designed for all skill levels, including beginners. Our numbered system provides clear guidance, making it easy to create a stunning piece of artwork.

How long do your kits take?

The time required to complete a paint-by-numbers painting depends on the complexity of the design and your painting speed. It can take anywhere from a few hours to several days or even weeks to finish. It's the journey though!

For mini kits, it typically takes around 2–4 hours.

Framed or unframed?

Our framed kits include our artist’s grade linen canvas on our patented frame that is also an easel stand. Our unframed kits come as a rolled canvas. See our video →

Why can't I pick the number of colors?

You can’t choose the number of paint pots for an image. If an image has 24 colors, it can’t be made into 48 — companies offering this are just duplicating colors and charging more. More colors don’t create more detail; the original artwork does. At MBN, we license all of our copyrighted images, so the number of colors depends entirely on the original artist’s painting.

Should I clean my brush?

Yes, it is advisable to clean your paintbrush when changing colors as well as after each painting session.

Clean your brushes with cool water and lay flat to dry.
