Bedroom in Arles by Vincent Van Gogh (1853 - 1890) ) - While he was in Arles, Van Gogh made this painting of his bedroom in the Yellow House. He prepared the room himself with simple furniture and with his own work on the wall. The bright colors were meant to express absolute ‘repose’ or ‘sleep’. Research shows that the strongly contrasting colors we see in the work today are the result of discoloration over the years. The walls and doors, for instance, were originally purple rather than blue.

Now you can paint this wonderful painting with our amazing paint by numbers kit from our Old Masters Collection.

Each Masterpiece By Numbers kit is produced with care and attention to produce a painting as close to the original artwork as possible.

The peace and serenity of painting is time well spent in our hectic world. The joy of painting this expertly detailed canvas will only be matched by the beautiful painting you will create.

Includes Everything You Need To Complete Your Painting:

  • High quality linen canvas - you can start painting straight from the box.
  • Set of paintbrushes - custom made for our paint by numbers kits.

    Van Gogh's Bedroom in Arles

I just completed Van Gogh's Bedroom in Arles, my 11th MBN project.
I took my time painting it, and worked on it one section at a time, from right to left, top to bottom, about 2-3 inches at a time. I found this technique allowed me to be more focused and attentive to detail.
This picture was not too difficult to do except for a few areas like the portraits over the bed, and the table next to the bed.
I am glad I ordered an extra set of paints, because 2 coats were needed for some of the orange and light brown areas. I had a lot of fun doing this painting and think it turned out quite nice.
I hope that more of Van Gogh's works will be added to the MBN menu !!

    1st Masterpiece by number painting.

This was my first painting and even then it took me about 7 evenings to complete. I am very pleased with the final product. I saved "A Starry Night" for my 3rd as I plan to really "glop" on the paint and ordered the extra paint that one. A few of my paints got a little dry and a bit of water on the brush and stirring the paint with a toothpick worked well. Some on the orange colors in the bed were too transparent and allow the numbers to show through. I'll have to paint another coat or 2 on those areas to make perfect but I am sure it will still be fun. Highly recommended by a satisfied customer!!

    Following Van Gogh

If you paint outside the lines, accept mistakes graciously, and wish to ‘encounter’ Van Gogh, then please read on! This delightful kit is an impression of the painting (due to copyright issues, perhaps?), yet I wanted the Van Gogh (3rd) version that hangs in le Musée d’Orsay (with a nod to the Van Gogh Museum). The original via Wiki was my guide: I corrected lines, changed colors, outlined and drew details in an attempt to capture the focused portraits, abstract art, a country hat on the rack and two glass jars on the table. I thank Masterpiece by Numbers because even though I stopped painting exclusively by numbers, they gave me the platform from which I had the courage to explore art and Vincent creatively.
